Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings
If you want the healthiest smile possible, you should visit us once every six months so that we can thoroughly examine and clean your teeth. We’ll take X-rays and perform other diagnostic measurements to check for signs of tooth decay and other oral health issues. After that, we can create a plan of action for you and remove any plaque or tartar that was detected. These periodic visits are vital if you don’t want to pay for more extensive treatments later.
Children’s Dentistry
We know that plenty of little ones are nervous about visiting the dentist, and we’ve done everything we can to create an environment where they can feel welcome and calm. During their initial visits, we’ll take the time to help your child become familiar with our dentists and staff members, and as they grow, we’ll take a number of steps (such as placing dental sealants) to ensure that their precious smile is allowed to develop as safely as possible.
Learn About Children’s Dentistry
Fluoride Treatment
A professional fluoride treatment takes only a few minutes, but its effects can be incredibly impactful. We apply a special, highly concentrated rinse, foam, gel, or varnish to your teeth, exposing this natural mineral to the enamel. Fluoride is incredibly useful for fighting against oral bacteria, and it can strengthen the teeth so that they don’t decay as easily. This treatment is especially useful for children, but it’s available for adults as well.
Dental Sealants
Good oral hygiene and regular cleanings will go a long way towards preventing cavities, but young children could also benefit from an additional line of defense. Sealants are placed on teeth that have a high risk for cavities (in particular, the groove-filled, hard-to-reach molars near the back of the mouth). They act as a shield against acids, bacteria, and harmful debris. Sealants can be placed on both primary and permanent teeth depending on your child’s needs.
Oral Cancer Screening
You probably don’t expect to be told that you have oral cancer, but with almost 53,000 new cases being diagnosed each year, it’s a possibility you can’t ignore. We might see warning signs of cancer during your regular checkups; for example, oftentimes a red or white patch will form somewhere in your mouth. Finding such symptoms early and seeking further treatment where appropriate can dramatically improve your chances of surviving.
Nightguards for Bruxism
An abnormal bite, crooked teeth, a sleep disorder, or anxiety could cause you to start grinding your teeth at night, which is often referred to as bruxism. You might notice the condition if you constantly wake up with a headache or notice that your teeth are excessively worn. Bruxism can be extremely harmful and, in many cases, even lead to tooth loss. We can fit you with a customized mouthguard that will keep your teeth safe at night. You can also buy over the counter nightguards, but they aren’t nearly as comfortable or effective.
Sportsguards & Mouthguards
Whether you have a child that plays sports or you regularly engage in some sort of physical activity, it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your teeth. Accidents can happen at any time, even during games where there is usually little to no contact. The mouthguards we offer at Plush Dentistry are all made according to impressions of a patient’s mouth so that they’ll stay in place and provide the best protection possible.
